Geographically, yes — the UN M49 scheme classifies the Levant, Arabian Peninsula, Iran, and the Caucasus as "West Asia." We follow that convention. If you're looking for a Middle East-only quiz, that's on the roadmap.

Russia spans both Europe and Asia, but its political and population center is European. We include it in europemapquiz.com instead. The Trans-Siberian Railway is a great real-world Russia-as-Asia argument we acknowledge but don't indulge.

Why is the capital of Sri Lanka so long?

Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte is the official administrative capital. Colombo is the commercial capital and where most embassies are, but the parliament and supreme court sit in Kotte (a suburb of Colombo). We use the official one.

Yes — generated from Natural Earth's 1:50m cartographic data, projected with a Lambert Conformal Conic centered on 90°E with parallels at 15°N and 50°N. Tiny countries (Singapore, Bahrain, Maldives) are rendered as 6-pixel diamond markers at their true coordinates so they remain clickable.
